JuryTap is owned and operated by Andrew Q Crosley, doing business as JuryTap ("JuryTap", "we", "us"). JuryTap runs remote mock jury focus groups for law firms. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers jurytap.com, app.jurytap.com, our juror screeners, and the text messages and emails we send.
Who this covers
Attorneys and firm staff who order and run focus groups.
Applicants and jurors who answer a screener, sign a participation agreement, or take part in a session.
Website visitors.
What we collect
Contact details: name, email address, and mobile phone number.
Screener answers: eligibility, conflict checks, demographics (such as county, age, gender, occupation, and education), and any questions the hiring firm adds.
Session content: survey answers, interview responses, and audio and video recordings made during a session, with your consent.
Agreements and payment: your signed participation agreement and the payout method you choose. Firms pay by card or bank account through Stripe; we do not store full card or bank numbers.
Account and usage data: for staff accounts, login details and activity in the app; for everyone, basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, and server logs.
How we use it
To screen applicants, seat a panel, and run the focus group.
To send session messages: confirmations, reminders, join links, and payout notices.
To collect signed agreements and pay jurors.
To produce reports for the hiring firm. Reports show answers and demographics; they do not show juror contact details.
To secure, maintain, and improve the service, and to meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
SMS text messages
If you give your mobile number and agree to receive texts, JuryTap sends messages about the focus group you applied for: application status, seat offers, agreement links, session reminders and join links, and payout notices. Message frequency varies, typically up to 10 messages per focus group. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We share phone numbers only with the vendors that deliver our messages (such as Twilio), solely to provide the service.
Who we share it with
The hiring law firm receives answers, demographics, and recordings from its own focus group. It does not receive juror contact details through JuryTap.
Service providers who process data for us under contract and only to provide the service: hosting and network (Hetzner, Cloudflare), sign-in (Clerk), payments (Stripe), juror payouts, text messages (Twilio), email delivery, e-signature (DocuSign), video sessions (Zoom), and AI providers that help produce transcripts and reports.
Advertising platforms. We recruit jurors with ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and may tell Meta when a screener is completed so ads reach people likely to apply. That signal never includes your mobile number or SMS consent.
Legal reasons: when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, under this policy.
How long we keep it
Applicants who are not eligible: we keep only a one-way hashed key to prevent duplicate applications, plus the reasons for ineligibility.
Juror contact details: deleted 90 days after the focus group closes, unless you ask to be contacted for future groups.
Answers, demographics, and recordings: kept for the hiring firm's case work for as long as the firm's account requires, then deleted.
Signed agreements and payment records: kept as long as needed for legal, tax, and accounting purposes.
Security
Contact details are encrypted at rest, all traffic uses HTTPS, and access is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct, or delete your personal information, or withdraw consent, by emailing andrew@jurytap.com. Reply STOP to any text to stop messages. Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights; we will honor them and will not treat you differently for using them. Some records, such as signed agreements, may need to be kept for legal reasons.
Children
JuryTap is for adults. Jurors must be 18 or older, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
We will post updates here and change the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information you already gave us, we will tell you first.
